Burial/memorial information
Enlisted in the 22nd Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force on May 20, 1915, he embarked from Halifax, Nova Scotia, for Great Britain, arriving in Plymouth on the 29th. On September 15, 1915, he sailed for France, landing in Boulogne, Pas-de-Calais, that same day. He was reported missing in action on April 9, 1917, between Stafford and Denis-Larocque during the assault on Vimy Ridge, Pas-de-Calais, in the Souchez and Scarpe river sector. On May 11, 1917, he was recognized as presumed killed in action and, on July 17, for service purposes, as having been killed in action on April 9, 1917.</P><P>
There is no indication in his military file that his body was found. However, there is a gravestone engraved with his name in the Bois-Carré cemetery, Pas-de-Calais, grave number VI.B.7.

Thelus is a village 7 kilometres north of Arras and BOIS-CARRE BRITISH CEMETERY is about half a mile east of the village on the south side of the D49 road to Bailleul-sire-Berthoult.
