In October 1998, a Labrador helicopter (#305) from the 413 Squadron in Greenwood, Nova Scotia, crashed in Marsoui, killing its six passengers. A memorial was erected in their honour on the site of the tragedy. It is in good condition, but is deteriorating rapidly and its maintenance is quite costly for the squadron. Discussions are going on about a possible relocation.

This memorial is dedicated to Arthur Francoeur, Simon Sleigher and Valmont Lebel. A dedication ceremony was held on May 31, 1986. The evening ended with a buffet and reception. The monument was restored by the Town of Nouvelle in 1994.

The Young Chamber of Commerce of the time, under the presidency of Mr. Yvon Levasseur, erected this monument in 1945 to honour the memory of the men from Matane who died for their country between 1914 and 1918 or between 1939 and 1945. An annual ceremony is held there on November 11th with the Legion, the Cadets Corps, the Armed Forces Reserve, the officials and the local population. Wreaths are laid at the monument each year.

En mai 1769, une flotille de secours française, renonçant à rallier Québec, se retira à la tête de la Baie des Chaleurs. Une escadre britannique les bloqua à compter du 22 juin. Appuyés d'Acadiens et de Micmacs, les Français installèrent des batteries sur les rives et obstruèrent le chenal. Ils voluaient ainsi empêcher l'adversaire de s'approcher de leurs navires, ancrés en retrait dans l'estuaire de la Ristigouche. Les Britanniques eurent raison des obstables et, le 8 juillet 1760, les bâtiments français se sabordèrent après quelque sept heures de combat.

In May 1760 a French relief fleet, unable to reach Quebec, took refuge at the head of Chaleur Bay. It was there that a British squadron blockaded them on June 22. Aided by Acadians and Micmacs, the French planted batteries on the shores and blocked the channel, hoping thus to keep the enemy from their ships anchored in the estuary of the Restigouche. The British were able to get by these obstacles and, on July 8, the French vessels were scullted after about seven hours of fighting.

The first slab of this memorial was erected prior to the 1968 Unification, at a time when the Longue Pointe military installation was the Home Station of the Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps. After Unification, the installation was transferred to the Army and eventually became known as Garrison Montreal or Garnison Monreal, and a second slab added to the memorial.

The stone façade of the remains of the Notre-Dame-de-Foy church bears an engraved commemorative plaque. That plaque mentions the main historical events linked to the monument, including its destruction in 1760 by British General James Murray during the battle of Sainte-Foy. Brief history: 1719 to 1722: construction of a stone church on the site occupied today by Visitation Park on land donated by members of the Pinguet family; April 27th, 1760: British General James Murray, who had food and ammunition stocked in the Notre-Dame-de-Foy church, ordered that it be burned down as the French army approaches, under the command of chevalier François-Gaston de Lévis; April 28th, 1760: battle of Sainte-Foy, on land occupied today bay des Braves Park and des Braves Avenue, Quebec; 1762 to 1774: reconstruction of the Notre-Dame-de-Foy church; General Murray donates 25 pounds to that effect. The walls and vestry of the Notre-Dame-de-Foy church resisted a new fire in 1977. The creation of Visitation Park, in 1998, has enhanced the presentation of its remains.
