In 2003, Moroz Street was named in honour of brothers Michael "Mike" and Hryhory "Harry" Moroz.

Trooper Michael “Mike” Moroz enlisted in July of 1942 and trained as a wireless operator in Dundurn, Saskatchewan; Portage la Prairie and Camp Borden, Manitoba. He was sent overseas with the Canadian Army in June of 1943.  Moroz was killed in action in Normandy, France on 9 August 1944 at 28 years of age.

Moroz Bay, which is situated southwest of Hunt Island, and northeast of Moroz Hill in Manitoba, was named in commemoration of Trooper Michael “Mike” Moroz in 1979.

Flying Officer Hryhory “Harry” Moroz enlisted and served with the Royal Canadian Air Force. He was killed in action on 23 March 1944 during an air operation over Frankfurt, Germany.

Moroz Lake in Saskatchewan was renamed in commemoration of Flying Officer Hryhory “Harry” Moroz in 1958.

The idea for this 2005 Year of the Veteran Mural came from the late Sir Paul Martin, who wanted the mural to be an educational tool so that the men and women who had given their lives for Canada would not be forgotten. Sir Paul Martin served during the Second World War with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles. He was a wireless operator in the Signals Platoon and later a dispatch rider. After the war he returned to Transcona and served on town council, as Mayor, and also as a chaplain for the local Royal Canadian Legion.

Painted by Charlie Johnston, the mural had many individual and corporate sponsors from the local and wider community. The mural tells the story of Transcona’s efforts in the World Wars on the home front and overseas in three layers. The foreground showcases the Transcona community before the onset of war with Central School, Canadian National Railway Shops, and a Harley Davidson as a nod to Sir Paul Martin. During the First World War a portion of the shops were shut down and turned into a munitions factory that produced 18 pound shells for Allied Forces.

The middle of the mural is dedicated to the war effort and Transona Veterans' participation in all branches of the military, including HMCS Transcona, Transcona Shell Co., Cordite Plant, and Canada’s Armoured Train. During the Second World War, Defense Industries Limited opened the Cordite Plant just east of the community. At the plant they produced Cordite and Nitroglycerin for the Allied Forces. Canada’s only armored train was constructed in secret at the Transcona's Canadian National Railway Shops during the Second World War. After Pearl Harbor was attacked, the Canadian Government was fearful of an attack on their western shores so  the armored train was constructed in secret. After the train was completed, it was shipped to the West Coast and patrolled around the Prince Rupert Area for a short time before being taken out of service without ever firing a shot.

At the top of the mural are acts of Remembrance including crosses and poppies.

On the evening of December 1, 2014, through the generous support of businesses, clubs, and individuals, the Legion was gifted a mural commemorating the Air Force, Army and Navy. The mural started off as a project by Legion members to replace an existing wall that was in need of repair. Walter Kachur was the volunteer coordinator for the mural project. Walter and friends started researching on ideas for the mural and their first visit was to the HMCS Chippawa Museum where they found a pamphlet on Ontario-based Canadian artist David Craig's paintings. They went to the archives building and found four of David's photos of the Air Force, Army and Navy.

With David's permission to use his photos, the project moved forward. Mural of Remembrance took about four months to complete measuring 17 feet long and 6.5 feet high. It includes the four prints of David's photos with black and white backgrounds of Canada's fighter planes. The Western Aviation Museum suggested the backgrounds because the prints could only be enlarged to a certain size. The four prints are: 1 - We Stand on Guard, 2 - Canada at War, 3 - Glorious and Free and 4 - With Glowing Hearts.

This memorial, erected by Prince Edward Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion on October 25th, 1953, is dedicated to residents of the municipality of East Kildonan who perished in the First and Second World Wars, and the Korean War. East Kildonan is now part of the City of Winnipeg which plans to sell the building and grounds. Prince Edward Legion is in the process of finding a new location in East Kildonan for this memorial.

"Unveiling of Memorial Cenotaph To Be Impressive Ceremony" - An interesting ceremony, and one which should create wide interest, will be the unveiling of a memorial cenotaph in memory of those who gave their lives in the Two World Wars. The ceremony will take place at the site of the memorial on the municipal grounds in East Kildonan, corner Helmsdale Avenue and Henderson Highway, on Sunday, October 25, at 2 o'clock. The memorial is being directed by Prince Edward Branch (No. 81)of the Canadian Legion. Alex. Fraser, president of the branch, extends an invitation to all residents of the municipality to be present and take part in the service, which will be of a most impressive nature. In October 2009, the East Kildonan Cenotaph was moved to Centennial Park. Financial assistance was provided by the City of Winnipeg and Veterans Affairs Canada.

The North Kildonan War Memorial was erected in the fall of 1968 in the John Dickson Memorial Park to honour the local men who died during the First and Second World Wars. It was commemorated with a parade on 8 September 1968, attended by Mines and Natural Resources Minister Donald Craik, members of seven Royal Canadian Legions in the Greater Winnipeg area (including the Prince Edward Branch No. 81 and Henderson Highway Branch No. 215), Legion Command Central, Salvation Army, HMCS Chippawa, the councils of North Kildonan and East Kildonan, and representatives from their respective fire and police departments.

When the city sold the property on which it stood in the summer of 2019, it was removed for restoration and relocated to its current location. Updates at this time included adding inscriptions for Korea, Afghanistan and Peacekeepers. On August 23, the Henderson Legion Branch No. 215 held a well-attended rededication ceremony.

The idea for the Transcona cenotaph came into existence in 1921, when pressure was put on the town council, to create a public war memorial for the lives lost during the Great War. The cenotaph was made in the yards of the Memorial Marble and Tile Company of Winnipeg. It was composed of a roughly finished grey granite obelisk, fourteen feet in height, placed on a five-foot base of smoothly polished granite. It took an experienced and dedicated stonecutter one hour to engrave two letters of a name into the surface. When it was completed, sixty-one names of war victims were engraved.

It was finally erected in late 1931 on the corner of Day Street (formerly Oxford Street) and Regent Avenue and on November 11, 1931, it was dedicated to the war dead of the First World War. After the Second World War the names of the deceased were engraved on the cenotaph. A plaque was later added to honour soldiers in the Korean War and Canadian Peacekeepers. In mid-1954, the cenotaph was relocated to its present site in Memorial Circle Park. It was rededicated on June 3, 2001.

Over the years, joint research by the Transcona Museum and the Transcona Legion Branch No. 7 identified individuals from the First World War and Second World War who were missing from the cenotaph. On June 5, 2011, with contributions made by the Transcona Legion Branch No. 7, the cenotaph was rededicated with new plaques that included the names of the missing soldiers.

The Stone of Remembrance was erected in 1987 on the 60th Anniversary of Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 7 (Transcona) in honour of fallen comrades. The sculpture incorporates the crests of the Royal Canadian Navy, the Canadian Army and the Royal Canadian Air Force, as well as the maple leaf.

The military section of the Transcona Cemetery was established on June 18, 1918 when the Town Council of Transcona set aside Block 3 for the sole use of members of the Canadian Expeditionary Force. The military section was properly named Field of Honour in the 1980s.
