  • Family Photo– Private  Alan Pentland and Private Kenneth Pentland of Hanley, Saskatchewan, born in 
Miami, Manitoba, were the only sons of Richard Price Pentland who was born in 
Cobourg, Ontario, and his wife Emily Louisa Pentland who was born in Chudleigh, 
Devon, England.
  • Photo of Father– From 1875 to 1878, Richard Price Pentland served with the Northwest Mounted Police in Fort MacLeod, Alberta. After serving with the police, he worked as a farmer and as a Homestead Inspector in Manitoba and near Hanley, Saskatchewan.
  • Photo of Mother– Emily Louisa Pentland was the eldest daughter of Dr. Charles Caulfield Moore and Elizabeth Maria Bonner, both were born in England.  Dr. Moore practised medicine in Cobourg, Ontario, for many years before relocating to the Muskoka area of Ontario near Huntsville.
