Private Alan Pentland and Private Kenneth Pentland of Hanley, Saskatchewan, born in Miami, Manitoba, were the only sons of Richard Price Pentland who was born in Cobourg, Ontario, and his wife Emily Louisa Pentland who was born in Chudleigh, Devon, England.

From 1875 to 1878, Richard Price Pentland served with the Northwest Mounted Police in Fort MacLeod, Alberta. After serving with the police, he worked as a farmer and as a Homestead Inspector in Manitoba and near Hanley, Saskatchewan.

Emily Louisa Pentland was the eldest daughter of Dr. Charles Caulfield Moore and Elizabeth Maria Bonner, both were born in England. Dr. Moore practised medicine in Cobourg, Ontario, for many years before relocating to the Muskoka area of Ontario near Huntsville.

POTIJZE CHATEAU LAWN CEMETERY Belgium
The Potijze Chateau Lawn Cemetery is located to the North East of the town of Ieper. From the station turn left and drive along M.Fochlaan to the roundabout, turn right and go to the next roundabout. Here turn left into M.Haiglaan and drive to the next roundabout. Here turn right into Oude Veurnestraat, this then changes into Diksmuidseweg and Brugseweg. Drive along this road and continue straight over the traffic lights to the end of the road. At the T junction turn left (still Brugseweg) and continue along this road (the N313) to the village of Sint Jan. At the crossroads in the village turn right onto the N345 (Potijzestraat), follow along to the next crossroads and turn left into Zonnebeekseweg. The Potijze Chateau Lawn Cemetery is located on the left hand side by the cross roads.
