Baptized Joseph-Adélard-Albert Lebrun. Son of Napoléon « Paul » Lebrun and Alexina Moisan (deceased in 1896).
After his mother’s death, he was raised by his uncle Louis Girard his aunt Louise Moisan in St-Raymond-de-Portneuf.
His father remarried to Malvina Alain in 1897 and later resided in Trois-Rivières, Mauricie, and Barraute, Abitibi, Québec.
Enlisted in the 57th Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force, he was transferred to the 41st Battalion on October 13. He sailed for Great Britain on the 18th and landed in Plymouth, England, on the 28th. On April 20, 1916, he was transferred to the 23rd Reserve Battalion before being reassigned to the 22nd Battalion on June 28. From Folkestone, with the 23rd, he crossed the English Channel and landed in Boulogne, Pas-de-Calais, France, on the 29th. He rejoined his new unit on July 2. On August 5, he was seconded to the 2nd Canadian Entrenchment Battalion and went to the front on September 19. Upon his return to the 22nd, on August 18, 1917 he was seriously wounded in action by a bullet to his right arm during the Battle of Lens, Pas-de-Calais, on Hill 70 in the trenches near Cité St-Laurent, while fighting to capture the Catapulte Trench. He was evacuated to the 18th Canadian Casualty Clearing Station, where he died that same day.

BARLIN COMMUNAL CEMETERY Pas de Calais, France
Barlin is a village about 11 kilometres south-west of Bethune on the D188, between the Bethune-Arras and Bethune-St. Pol roads, about 6.5 kilometres south-east of Bruay. The BARLIN COMMUNAL CEMETERY and EXTENSION lie to the north of the village on the D171 road to Houchin.
