Trooper (Retired) Christopher Michael Cooper has demonstrated exceptional dedication, leadership and innovation in his six years of service with The Queen’s York Rangers Regimental Council, significantly improving the lives of Veterans and active members of the Regiment.

As a key member of the Outreach Committee, Chris revitalized the Council’s digital presence, leveraging his IT expertise to grow its social media following by an astounding 3,600%—from just 35 to over 1,300 followers. Through compelling content creation for the website, newsletters and outreach campaigns, he has reconnected hundreds of former Rangers and fostered a renewed sense of community. His efforts have directly led to increased engagement and attendance at major Regimental events.

In his role as Chair of the Regimental Family Committee, Chris has strengthened ties between the Council and its partners. He has personally reached out to isolated Veterans, helping them reconnect with the Regimental family and regain a sense of belonging. He also serves as a welcoming host at key events such as Remembrance Day ceremonies, the Christmas Soldiers Appreciation Dinner, and York County Day—ensuring Veterans are informed, included and supported. Additionally, he has helped coordinate and deliver care packages to deployed members, maintaining their connection to home and community.

Chris has also made transformative improvements to the Regimental Assistance Program, which provides financial and logistical support to members in need. By automating what was once a manual process, he drastically reduced wait times and improved efficiency—ensuring that over 50 Veterans facing challenges such as homelessness, PTSD or financial hardship received timely and effective support. His system maintains strong governance while delivering compassionate care.

His IT contributions span nearly every aspect of the Council’s operations:

  • He developed a case management system for academic awards, reducing administrative time by 40%.
  • As part of the Ranger Roads initiative, he created a Google Maps overlay linking streets, historical sites and Veterans’ gravesites to the Regiment’s legacy.
  • He supported the Fundraising Committee by implementing QR codes and NFC tags, streamlining donations and event planning—resulting in increased contributions and reduced administrative costs.
  • On his own initiative, he built a cloud-based digital archive to preserve the Council’s historical records for future generations.

Chris’s contributions have saved the Council thousands of dollars annually while modernizing its operations and expanding its reach. His work ensures that Veterans and friends of the Regiment remain connected, supported and celebrated in the digital age.
