
Paul Bowes has over 30 years experience of coaching wheelchair basketball for multiple teams and levels in several different countries. Not only has he coached Paralympians, but Paul is also the head coach for Team Canada Invictus Games and Team Canada Warrior Games.
Paul has significantly impacted the military community through his involvement with the Invictus Games and Warrior Games. Serving as Head Coach for Team Canada in the Invictus Games fives times, Paul has assisted wounded, injured and sick serving members of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and Veterans rediscover their potential and rebuild their confidence through sport. He also supervised many training camps as part this role. His coaching has equipped these athletes with the skills to compete and has supported them through their rehabilitation.
Paul’s contributions to the Warrior Games, which have included three games and camps, have similarly empowered military personnel, fostering camaraderie, resilience and a sense of achievement among participants. Paul’s dedication to the military community underscores his belief in the transformative power of sport and his commitment to supporting those who have served their country.
Paul has also made a profound impact on Soldier On Canada; a program that supports Veterans and CAF members to adapt and overcome permanent physical or mental health injury or illness through physical activity and sport. Through his coaching and mentorship, Paul has helped participants of Soldier On Canada regain their confidence, develop new skills and build a supportive community.
Most of this work has been offered voluntarily, reflecting Paul’s selflessness, genuine character and dedication to the betterment of others. He has an unwavering commitment to those who have served their country and considers assisting them his highest achievement.
