Volunteers play a key role in supporting and commemorating Veterans. They give their time and effort to volunteer with Veteran organizations, offer peer support, engage youth in remembrance, organize Veterans’ Week and Remembrance Day activities, and more. Their efforts make a real difference in Veterans’ lives.
For example, Antoine Chiasson (pictured left) from New Brunswick helps organize Veterans’ Week activities through his school’s student council. In Québec, Lisa Cyr (pictured right), a Veteran and businesswoman, opened a cozy cat café where Veterans can relax, talk with other Veterans, and regain a sense of belonging. Both volunteers have received the Minister of Veterans Affairs Commendation for their service to Canadian Veterans.
The Minister of Veterans Affairs Commendation recognizes volunteers of all ages who have made an outstanding contribution to the Veteran community.
If you know someone who goes above and beyond for Canadian Veterans, nominate them for the Commendation. To learn more or to submit a nomination, visit the Minister of Veterans Affairs Commendation webpage.
